What to Expect?
We are so happy that you are interested in our Swim Team. Mill Creek Towne is a fun loving community where lifelong friendships are made. Please browse our various pages to learn more and contact Sarah Pelter or Jennie Rankin at [email protected].
The MCT Marlins are part of the Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL).
We are in Division G for 2026.
You can read more about the league here.
Swim Team meets and practices:
- Practices start May 27th (the day after tryouts)
- While school is in session, practices are held weekday evenings
- After school ends, there are morning practices and evening practices. Swim team members can attend either or both practices. We encourage them to make as many practices as possible but understand that there is life outside of swimming!
- There are two meets every week starting June 13th:
- A Meets: These are on Saturday mornings. The coach will chose the fastest swimmers in each event every week to participate in A Meets.
- B Meets: These are on Wednesday evenings. B meets are open to all swimmers although there are some limits on how many total events you can swim in a week and you can only swim in events your are "legal" in.
- There are 5 A meets and 5 B meets. The last regular season meet is July 15.
Pre-team meets and practices:
- Practices will start after school the school year ends.
- Pre-team has morning practice (11:15-11:45) and afternoon practice (4:45-5:15) Mon-Fri. We ask that you choose either morning or afternoon to help us make sure we can get all the coaches we need there. We encourage all pre-team swimmers to go to a practice every day (but it is not mandatory).
- There will be at least one mini-meet for our pre-team but date and location is TBD
Equipment
- All swimmers/divers will need a swimsuit. A team suit will be available for purchase, but not required. Jammers or briefs are recommended for boys.
- Goggles are required for all swimmers
- Swim caps are highly recommended for all swimmers. Team caps are available for purchase, but not required. Swimmers should not wear caps from any other swimming program during competition.
Other Notes:
- This is a volunteer run sport and volunteer participation is required from all families.
- There are a few special meets like Relay Carnivals which are super fun! More information will be provided during the season.
- The swim team schedule is also full of fun events like a raffle, weekly pep-rallys, donuts and ribbons, a gala, and so much more!
- The deadline for MCSL transfers is June 1.
